As we know, the submersible pumps are operated automatically in most working conditions. This is due to the float switch attached to the pump which controls pump start and stop at certain levels and avoid unnecessary dry running.
Question: how does the float switch work?
The float switch controls pump by the water level change. When the water is lower to half of the pump, it will cut off the power and stops work. When the water rises to submerge the pump again, it controls the pump running again.
In this way, it realizes automatic pump start and stop without keeping an eye on the whole process. Below is the working diagram of the float switch.
Note: A pump without float switch will only be stopped by manually cutting off the power.
Question: What will you benifit from the automatic operation?
Imagine that your underground car park or cellar be submerged by a sudden flood. Would it be a great loss then? By equipped with an automatic sump pump, it will starts pumping water whenever there is excessive water and drains the water within very quick time. When the water is draining out, it stops working and stays where it is.
